Liz Whiteacre’s Bio
I’ve worked with students in creative writing, writing for publication, composition, literature, and technical writing classes at the University of Indianapolis, Ball State University, College of DuPage, Southern Illinois University, the Indianapolis Chinese Community Center, and the Indiana Writer’s Center, and I have been an editor for literary magazines and the University of Indianapolis Press. I currently teach writing at UIndy. You can learn more about my poetry at whiteacrehitstheground.wordpress.com.
My poetry has appeared in Wordgathering, Disability Studies Quarterly, Breath and Shadow, Disabled World, and other literary magazines. In my chapbook, Hit the Ground (2013), I explore my experiences with a spinal injury that dramatically changed my world—in the time it took to hit the ground. If you’re interested in learning more, please visit whiteacrehitstheground.wordpress.com. I also worked with Lyn Jones to edit an anthology of mothers who write and create art about parenting their children with special needs. Monday Coffee & Other Stories of Mothering Children with Special Needs was published in 2013. You can learn more at the blog Monday Coffee & Other Stories.
